Last Day of Uni

The final caravan :) It seems fitting I upload the final pictures on my last day of university EVER!! If the pictures are not enough come to the Final Degree Show Exhibition Private View on the 23rd May at the Augustine Art Centre. Speeches start at 6pm. :)

Monday, 12 May 2014

Hats off to ya!!

The shower cap came off today!! :D There was a little bit of sunshine to celebrate as well, light at the end of the tunnel maybe!?! Put the wooden door plate on today as well to cover those unsightly holes. It is all coming together :) Just need to move it to its final exhibition spot and then we are on the home stretch!! It's so scary but exciting at the same time!!

Proposed Site

My Final Artwork will be exhibited outside the Augustine Art Studios for the private view and during the duration of the exhibition. The proposed site is opposite the back entrance of the Augustine Library where the speeches are being held on private view night. It is getting so close now to the deadline its starting to feel real!!

Artwork Part 9

Performance Piece;
For my Final Artwork I am doing a performance piece as an allegory of adultery. I will be wearing my Dads jumper alongside stockings to represent both the family and temptation. In the performance I will be making tea and 'having my cake and eating it'. I will be ignoring all spectators. I had to do a test run to time how long it would take and also to document it for my support work.

Artwork Part 8

Test Projection;
In the small room (as mentioned before) a projection of my family video in the south of France is go to be played with footage of my Dad. I had to set up the projector so that the image fit on the designated wall. After much organisation the projector seen in these images had to be switched as my media was in DVD format and not USB.

Artwork Part 7

Top Image- Two aspects I would like to point out 1; Cunt Cushion, 2; Framed Photo.

The cushion is a drawing which has been abstracted then appliqued onto the surface of the cushion. I wanted to demonstrate how sex is a part of the everyday even if you don't see it at first. Secondly the framed photo is of my Grandparents on my Mums side on their wedding day. They met when they were just fifteen and were together till my Grandmas death in 2011 having celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary years before. I displayed this photo the correct way round illuminated by light to represent my ideal, my idea of what true love and marriage is all about.

Bottom Image- Crème Eggs, Baking and Kettle.

The Crème eggs in an egg box is a reminder of Dad. He always used to pretend they were real and it is a really strong memory for me. I wanted to include part made cake batter to represent the potential that could have been a family with home baking being a medium everyone can relate to. The kettle is a key aspect in the caravan; not only is it the colour associated with lust and love but also the boiling water represents the rising tension as well as referring back to the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt. It is also potentially going to be part of the final performance piece.
